One day after sweeping Wayne State, the Warriors returned the favor with a pair of dramatic one-run victories, taking the opener 4-3 in 8 innings and the nightcap 1-0.
In the opener, Abbey Cooksey started and went 3.1 innings, allowing just one earned run on 7 hits. Relieved by Mindy Meredith, neither team could muster enough offense to end it in regulation.
Heading to the eighth inning, the Dragons mustered two runs to take a 3-1 lead. Caitlin Houk came through with a two-out, pinch-hit single to put TU ahead by one. Amanda Temple's fourth hit of the day drove in another run as the Dragons headed to the bottom of the 8th inning needing just three outs for the win.
Meredith, however, failed to record an out in the bottom of the frame as the Warriors scored three runs to win 4-3.
Lauren Mazzuca, Meredith, and Jessie Creakbaum each had 2 hits apiece for TU.
In the nightcap, Amber Young went 7 innings, allowing only four hits. Unfortunately for the Dragons, one of those was a solo home run in the 5th inning.
The Dragons, meanwhile, managed just two hits in the game. Tiffin stranded a combined 18 runners in the Sunday twinbill.
