Tiffin University's women's basketball team put another first on the board in a season that is shaping up better each week. This time, the Dragons posted their first-ever victory over Hillsdale College, as they combined hot shooting and consistent defense throughout the game to post a 79-65 win over the Chargers.

The Dragons enter a second-place tie with the Chargers, as both teams sport 4-3 records in the GLIAC behind first-place Findlay. Tiffin is 9-4 overall while Hillsdale falls to 9-3.

The two teams battled in a close game for the first 10 minutes before Tiffin got some space starting at the 10:25 mark, going on a 9-1 run over the next five minutes to take a 27-19 lead. The Dragons continued the late first half charge, outscoring Hillsdale 8-3 over the final 2:28 of the half and putting an exclamation point on the half when Karli Mast drilled a three pointer with just seconds remaining in the half to give TU a 39-26 halftime margin.

The Dragons blistered the nets at a 51 percent clip in the half while holding Hillsdale to just 35 percent shooting. Mandy Jaeb had 21 points at the half, including her first bucket of the game which put her over 1000 points in her career, while Jessica Harris had 10 rebounds after the first 20 minutes.

The Dragons opened the second half on a 10-2 run that pushed their lead to 21 points, and TU continued to play solid defense, only allowing the Chargers to pull to within 13 points two more times the rest of the half.

Overall Tiffin held Hillsdale's offense in check while the Dragons finished at 50 percent shooting. Hillsdale, the GLIAC's top scoring and shooting team, was held to 65 total points (nearly 10 points beneath their average) along with 33 percent field goal shooting.

Jaeb (the 14th TU player to crack the 1000 point milestone) finished with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Karli Mast had 17 points and Jessica Harris 10 points and 15 rebounds. Amanda Baute also had 9 points and 7 rebounds.
