The Tiffin University softball team has qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs and will travel to Ashland University for one of the two Midwest four-team regional tournament.

TU (34-16) is playing in the Midwest Region. Two four-team tournaments will be held in the region, Friday-Sunday, May 14-16. AU is the top seed among the four teams that will gather at Brookside Park. On Friday (May 14), Ashland will play Tiffin and Lewis will oppose Northern Kentucky. The top seed in the region overall is Wayne State. The Warriors will host the other tourney in the region. On Friday, WSU will play Quincy and Indianapolis will face Saginaw Valley State. Indy is the defending regional champion.

This is the first time in school history Tiffin has qualified for the NCAA postseason in softball. They become just the second TU athletic team to make the NCAA postseason, following women's soccer in 2008. The Dragons are coached by second-year coach Jeff Nickerson while Ashland's Sheilah Gulas leads the Eagles (33-11) to the postseason for the eighth time.

The two winners from this coming weekend's tournaments will meet in the Super Regional, May 21-22, at the diamond of the top remaining seed. The eight Super Region winners advance to the NCAA Division II World Series.
