Tiffin University (6-19) got strong pitching from Donnie Smith and Pat Curtin, beating 12th-ranked Grand Valley State on the road 7-2 and 1-0. In the opener, Smith went 7 innings and allowed just 3 hits in a dominating performance, allowing only a two-run HR. TU opened with 3 runs in the first and tacked on 3 more runs in the 7th inning to put the game away. Devin Rudolph had 3 hits with 2 doubles for 3 RBI, while Jason Kulp also drove in three runs with 2 hits. Jason Bailey had 2 hits and Ty Blake added a double.
In the nightcap, Curtin went 7 innings and scattered 5 hits in the shutout. TU scored its lone run in the 5th inning as Bailey singled home Jordan Chiero after a leadoff double. Rudolph added 2 more hits while Val Helldobler also doubled.
