Tiffin University (0-1) faced a high octane offense in their opening game of the 2009-10 season, taking on West Liberty in a packed Gillmor Center. The Hilltoppers opened the game on fire, jumping out to a 22-3 lead en route to a 113-72 victory.
Turnovers plagued the Dragons throughout the night, as they finished with 31 for the game. The turnovers led to WLU putting up 27 more shots than the Dragons in the game. West Liberty shot 54 percent, 61 percent in the first half, while also totaling 21 steals.
TU shot 52 percent in the game but gave the Hilltoppers too many offensive opportunities to keep up. Merlynd Ameti and Keenan Barlow led the Dragons with 14 points apiece, while DeAngelo Jordan also finished in double figures with 10 points. Brian Scott had 9 points and Mike Hammonds 8 points.
