TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University men's soccer team (1-1-2) and Davenport played to a scoreless 0-0 draw on Saturday at the Paradiso Athletic Complex.
Today's game also marked the end of non-conference play for the Dragons.
Despite dominating possession of the ball all afternoon and creating multiple scoring chances, Davenport's defense held the Dragons off the board. Tiffin came out firing, and Garbhan Feeney recorded the first shot on goal just under three minutes into the game. TU got a huge break at the end of the first when Davenport's free kick two feet outside the box missed just right of the goal.
Despite eight shot attempts and ten corners in the second half, Tiffin's lone shot on goal came in the 61st minute on a header by Yaw Turkson that was saved by Davenport's goalkeeper.
TU dominated the statistical categories by outshooting the Panthers 16-4 and held a 15-2 advantage in corner kicks. Of Davenport's four shot attempts, two were on goal and Tiffin's defense held the Panthers to just one shot attempt in the second half.
Nick Cherry went the distance in goal and recorded two saves.
The Dragons will now turn to conference play and host Ashland on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m.
