TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University women's soccer team dropped Thursday's G-MAC matchup to rival Findlay by a score of 3-1 at the Paradiso Athletic Complex. Tiffin is now 3-5-1 overall and 1-4 in the G-MAC.
The first six minutes were wild in this one with a flurry of offensive activity. 1:47 into the contest, Tiffin's Megan Schonberger was whistled for a foul in the box which led to Findlay's Raegan Smith converting the penalty to make it 1-0. Not even two minutes later, the Dragons connected on a free kick to tie the game at one in the fourth minute as Dani Garner scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Sam McPhee.
1:36 later, in the sixth minute, the Dragons were in prime position to take the lead as Daphine Nalubowa drew a foul inside the box which led to a penalty kick. However, Findlay's fifth-year goalkeeper saved Nalubowa's penalty to keep the game tied.
McPhee got a good look on target in the 10th minute, but the shot attempt just sailed wide and a little high. The game remained tied at one going into halftime.
The second half was controlled by Findlay, and the Oilers retook the lead in the 55th minute on another penalty as this time it was Tammie Shalit who committed a foul inside the box. The Oilers added another goal in the 68th minute to make it 3-1 and Findlay's second-half defense limited to Tiffin to just one shot attempt.
Findlay held the advantage in shots (17-4), shots on goal (7-3), and corner kicks (5-1).
Gianna Parmentier was the only Dragons to play all 90 minutes and took the loss in goal while tallying four saves.
The Dragons take on Northwood on Saturday at noon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex for Alumni Day.
