PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Tiffin University women's soccer team scored twice in each half to secure their first conference win of the season, a 4-0 triumph over Ursuline on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Dragons improve to 3-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the G-MAC. The three wins match last year's win total.
The Dragons took control of the game early with Callie Cacchione striking first with a goal in the eighth minute to make it 1-0. Tiffin's defense was stifling all afternoon, limiting the Arrows to just one shot attempt, but that one attempt nearly leveled the match at one shortly after Cacchione's goal as Fiona Rombach's shot hit the crossbar.
In the 34th minute, Amanda Feury dribbled through multiple defenders and scored to make it 2-0. Tiffin led 2-0 at the break.
The game looked destined to end 2-0 until the Dragons found paydirt twice more in the final 5:45 of action. Leonor Sousa scored an unassisted goal in the 85th minute and Daphine Nalubowa, in her season debut, converted a penalty kick in the 88th minute for the fourth and final goal of the game.
Tiffin outshot the Arrows 10-1 and recorded six shots on goal to Ursuline's zero. The Arrows did hold a slight advantage in corner kicks, 6-5.
Gianna Parmentier went the distance in goal to earn the win and did not record a save.
The Dragons' road trip continues with a Saturday matchup against Walsh at 12 p.m.
