TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University men's soccer team, ranked 25th in the country, finished off its opening homestand with a 1-1 draw against rival Findlay on Thursday afternoon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex. With today's result, the Dragons move to 3-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the G-MAC.
All of the offensive action came early in this one. The Dragons had to play from behind as the Oilers struck first in the 10th minute on a goal by Andre Sardinha which deflected off the post and ricocheted into the back of the net.
Tiffin wasted no time and responded with a game-tying goal just over six minutes later in the 16th minute. Garbhan Feeney crossed a ball into the box and found Zach Garcia at the top, and Garcia slipped it into the lower right of the net to make it a 1-1 game. TU nearly took the shortly after in the 20th minute, but Sam Brittain's shot forced the Findlay goalkeeper to make a jumping save which he did.
In the 57th minute, Feeney nearly put Tiffin back ahead but his shot attempt curled just right of the post and missed. Tiffin's lone shot on goal came in the 61st minute by Callum Ellington and it was saved.
Meanwhile, TU goalkeeper Nick Cherry made four saves in the second half to keep it a tie game. Cherry went the distance in goal and recorded seven saves in the contest.
The Dragons narrowly outshot Oilers 13-10, but Findlay generated more scoring chances by recording eight shots on goal compared to Tiffin's four. The Oilers also had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Up next, the Dragons will hit the road for the first time in 2026 on Saturday, September 19 for a 2:30 p.m. matchup against Walsh.
