Men’s Golf Opens 2026-27 Campaign at the Midwest and Central Regional Preview

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Tiffin University men's golf team opened the 2026-27 season Monday at the Midwest and Central Regional Preview, hosted by Grand Valley State University at The Meadows. Competing against an 18-team field, the Dragons completed 36 of the tournament's 54 holes during the opening day of the two-day event.
 
The Dragons opened the season with a team score of 312 (+28) in the first round before bouncing back in round two with a 294 (+10). Junior Max Vanoy led the way early for the Dragons, firing a 74 (+3) that featured birdies on the par-3 third and par-4 10th holes. Daniel Aitken added a birdie on the third en route to a 77 (+6) as Tiffin navigated the challenging par-71 layout at The Meadows.
 
Winston Brown turned in a strong second-round performance, climbing 17 spots in the individual standings after carding a 72 (+1). Brown was remarkably consistent throughout the round, recording 13 pars and a pair of birdies to help lead the Dragons' rebound during the evening session. Aitken turned in the Gons' best round of the day, firing a 70 (-1) during the second round. After opening with a steady back nine that featured eight pars, he picked up momentum on the front side with three birdies to finish the round one stroke under par. He enters the final round tied for 30th.
 
Vanoy also caught fire during his second round, recording five consecutive birdies during an impressive stretch of play. The run was highlighted by pinpoint tee shots on the par-3 third and par-3 seventh holes, helping him finish the round at 72 (+1). He enters Tuesday's final round tied for 38th place individually.
 
Grant Woodruff sits 102nd through 36 holes after posting rounds of 82 and 80, while Joshua Swartz is tied for 106th following rounds of 79 and 80. Woodruff highlighted the Dragons' opening round with an eagle on the 526-yard par-5 fourth hole, using a strong tee shot to set up a well-placed approach that left him with a makeable opportunity.
 
Wayne State leads the team standings at 575 (+7) through two rounds, followed by Grand Valley State at 578 (+10) and Central Oklahoma at 579 (+11). The third and final round of the Midwest/Central Regional Preview is slated for Tuesday, September 15.
