TIFFIN, Ohio – Malone scored two second-half goals on Saturday which led to a Pioneers' 2-0 win over the Dragons at the Paradiso Athletic Complex in conference action. The loss drops Tiffin to 2-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the G-MAC.
The first half was all about the defenses which ended in a 0-0 result after 45 minutes. Tiffin nearly took the lead 10 minutes in, but Dani Garner's shot just missed high over the crossbar. Later in the half, Makenna Dreyer's shot was saved by the Pioneers' goalkeeper and Gianna Parmentier's only save of the first half came late as the clock hit zero.
The Pioneers were able to seize offensive momentum early in the second half as Jojo Knight scored twice in a span of 4:07 to put the Pioneers on top. Knight was able to take advantage of two loose balls deep in Tiffin's defensive end that the Dragons could not secure.
Tiffin, despite being shutout for the second consecutive game, generated some offensive pressure in the second half but got whistled for offsides and could not put many shots on target.
Malone outshot the Dragons 15-7 and had a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Pioneers also attempted seven corner kicks to Tiffin's three.
Parmentier went the distance in goal and made four saves.
TU will look to bounce back with a trip to Ursuline on Thursday, September 17th. Kickoff against the Arrows is slated for 4 p.m.
