TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University men's soccer team improved to 3-1-2 overall and 2-0 in G-MAC play following a dominant 2-0 win over Malone on Saturday at the Paradiso Athletic Complex. The Tiffin defense has now posted a shutout for the third consecutive game.
TU outshot the Pioneers 25-4 while recording a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Dragons also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Dragons started the scoring early and set the tone right from the start. On the first corner of the game, Tanner Brentlinger scored with an assist from Garbhan Feeney to make it 1-0 in the fourth minute. Tiffin, despite putting six more shots on goal in the first half, could not find the back of the net again and led 1-0 at the halftime break.
Tiffin was finally able to tack on a second goal in the 86th minute after Malone was forced to play a man down the final 13 minutes after Andrew Walubengo was sent off for receiving a second yellow card. Oliver Spinks gained possession at midfield and passed it up to Nasir Eloi who dished it to Andre Robison for the goal.
It was the first career goal for both Brentlinger and Robison. Sam Brittain tallied a team-high seven shot attempts with three on target.
Nick Cherry went the distance in goal and made two saves.
Tiffin finishes their seven-game homestand on Thursday, September 17 with a battle against Findlay. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the Paradiso Athletic Complex.
