Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 11 Eagles Edge Dragons 1-0 in G-MAC Opener

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Tiffin University women's soccer team opened Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play on Thursday afternoon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex with a 1-0 loss to No. 11 ranked Ashland.

Tiffin played a lot of defense as Ashland generated 65 percent possession of the ball for the game. The game remained 0-0 going into halftime. TU had a breakaway scoring opportunity in the 16th minute as Dani Garner raced down the field with a ball, but her shot was saved by Ashland's goalkeeper.

Nearly six minutes into the second half in the 51st minute, the Eagles scored their first and only goal of the game following a corner kick on a ball that caromed loose in the box.

Tiffin once again had another breakaway scoring chance but couldn't convert. This time it was Tia Nagle who broke loose in the 79th minute and her shot attempt was saved as the Eagles' goalkeeper sprawled out and put her body on the line to deny the ball rolling into the net.

Hayley Williamson's shot attempt went wide left with 30 seconds remaining allowing the Eagles to escape Tiffin with a 1-0 result.

Ashland outshot Tiffin 31-3 and earned 13 corner kicks compared to Tiffin's zero.

Gianna Parmentier went the distance in goal and recorded 12 saves.

The Dragons will look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Paradiso Athletic Complex against Malone.
