TIFFIN, Ohio – Recent Tiffin University graduate and current graduate assistant coach Malachi Adams has qualified for the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships and will compete in the men's 100-meter dash July 23-26 at Icahn Stadium in New York City. He will be joined by fellow TU alum Nik Curtiss '20 who will also be in action competing in the shot put.
Adams is scheduled to race in the opening round of the 100-meter dash at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 23. Athletes who advance from the preliminary round will return for the semifinal at approximately 6:40 p.m. Friday, July 24.
During his career with the Dragons, Adams earned seven All-America honors across indoor and outdoor track and field competition. His collegiate career culminated with a national runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash, where he posted a time of 10.11 seconds. He also earned two All-America honors as a member of Tiffin's relay teams.

Nik Curtiss enters the 2026 USATF Outdoor Championships as one of the nation's premier shot putters. With this year's qualification, he has now earned six consecutive berths to the USATF Outdoor Championships (2021-26) and has also qualified for the USATF Indoor Championships five times during his career.
Prior to launching his professional career, Curtiss established himself as one of the most decorated throwers in Tiffin University history. He earned seven NCAA Division II All-America honors, was a two-time NCAA Division II national runner-up, claimed three Great Midwest Athletic Conference shot put championships, and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships seven times. He also qualified for the 2021 U.S. Olympic Team Trials while competing for the Dragons.
Curtiss earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University in 2020 and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice in 2021. Since concluding his collegiate career, he has continued to compete among the nation's elite throwers, extending his streak of appearances at the USATF Outdoor Championships to six consecutive years while adding five career appearances at the USATF Indoor Championships.

The championships will mark the first U.S. outdoor track and field national championship held in New York since 1991 and will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first U.S. national track and field championships, which were contested in the Bronx in 1876.
For the second consecutive year, the event will feature both the USATF Outdoor Championships and the USATF Para National Championships in a fully integrated competition. The championships are being organized locally by the Central Park Track Club, USATF New York and New York Road Runners in partnership with the Randall's Island Park Alliance and USA Track & Field.
Coverage of the Toyota USATF Outdoor and Para National Championships will air across NBC, NBCSN, Peacock and USATF.TV, with the final two days broadcast live on NBC, including WNBC in the New York City market.
