Tiffin University (34-15) took on top-seed Indianapolis in the opening round of the NCAA Midwest Regional, falling 6-4 in a back-and-forth battle.
The Dragons will now take on the loser of Ashland-Saginaw Valley State at 1:30 pm on May 15.
The Greyhounds scored runs in the first and third innings to take a 3-0 lead heading to the top of the fourth inning.
With two outs and
Tori McPherson on first after being hit by a pitch,
Ella Esterby singled and
Macy Brazelton walked to load the bases.
Reagan Mengerink then blasted a grand slam to left field to put the Dragons in front 4-3.
Tiffin held the lead until the bottom of the fifth when UIndy hit a two-run home run to retake the lead.
Tiffin had two runners on with one out in the sixth but a lineout and a strikeout ended the threat. The Dragons also put two runners on with one out in the seventh but came up short again, as the game ended with a strikeout and a groundout to second base.
Esterby took the loss, allowing 4 earned runs over 5 innings.
Lexi Key finished the game with one inning of scoreless work.
