Dragons come from behind to defeat Malone 11-9

Tiffin University women's lacrosse (7-5, 4-1 G-MAC) erased a three-goal halftime deficit and dominated the second half which led to a come from behind 11-9 win at Malone on Thursday afternoon.  

After trailing 3-1 eight minutes in, the Dragons scored two goals (one by Kenna Wigginton and one by Lauren Walsh) 28 seconds apart to tie the game. A goal by Lillian Graham at the 4:22 mark gave Tiffin their first lead of the game, and the first quarter ended tied at four. 

After the goal by Graham, Tiffin's offense was shut down by Malone, and the Pioneers held a second quarter advantage of 3-0 and took a 7-4 lead into halftime. Tiffin fell behind late in the first half as the Pioneers scored twice for a woman up goal following a yellow card by Walsh. 

Out of the break, TU turned the tide and shut out the Pioneers in the third. Tiffin scored four in the quarter and six straight overall to lead 10-7 with 12:48 remaining in the game. With 4:11 left in the third, Isabelle Vranjes tied the game at seven as the Dragons took advantage of a Malone card to score a woman up. 

After the goal by Vranjes, Graham scored three straight to continue the momentum. Malone cut the deficit to one with 4:58 left, but Vranjes sealed the deal scoring with 40 seconds left to make it 11-9. After Malone scored their ninth goal of the game, the Pioneers would not record anymore shot attempts in the game. 

In the second half, the Dragons outscored Malone 7-2. 

Paige Waldrup played the second half in goal and earned the win, making four saves while only allowing two goals.  

Offensively, Wigginton, Walsh, and Vranjes each scored two. Aryanna Rykard, Ella Malinowski, Walsh, Graham, and Guinevere Salas were each credited with one assist. 

Graham led the offense scoring five goals and scored the game-winning goal as she reached 100 for her career. 

Tiffin held a slim 28-26 shot advantage and turned 12 shots on goal into 11 goals. Ground balls were event at 19 apiece and the Dragons won 10 of 21 draw controls.
