Tiffin University women's lacrosse (8-5, 5-1 G-MAC) dominated the second half at Walsh on Saturday, outscoring the Cavaliers 13-4 to earn a hard-fought 18-10 road win.
The win this afternoon was the second straight game that the Dragons regrouped at half and dominated the final 30 minutes which led to victory.
Tiffin started strong and led 3-0 after 15 minutes. Isabelle Vranjes, Katelyn Jarvis, and Lauren Walsh each scored one in the opening quarter.
The Cavaliers flipped the script in the second quarter and outscored TU 6-2 to take a 6-5 lead into intermission. Guinevere Salas scored to make it 4-2 with 12:07 left in the first half and the Cavaliers answered six seconds later, which led to a string of four unanswered. With five seconds left, Walsh scored a free position goal to snap a 12-minute scoreless drought.
The goal proved to be a huge momentum swinger, as the Dragons opened the second half with six unanswered goals in 10 minutes of play to take an 11-6 lead. Counting the goal at the end of the first half, it was seven straight scored by TU. Jarvis gave the Dragons the lead for good at the 11:44 mark of the third quarter.
Tiffin outscored Walsh 7-1 in the third and doubled up the Cavaliers 6-3 in the fourth. With 58 seconds left in, Dana Shehadeh scored to give the Dragons a nine-goal lead, their biggest advantage of the game.
Jarvis led the offense scoring five goals and Walshs scored four. Vranjes and Kenna Wigginton each scored three. Shehadeh, Aryanna Rykard, and Salas each scored one. Walsh and Salas each had two assists while Shehadeh and Vranjes recorded one assist each.
Sarah Hart got the win in goal playing all 60 minutes and made six saves.
Tiffin held a 40-25 shot advantage with 22 shots being on goal. The Dragons also had a strong advantage in draw controls, winning 17 of 28.
