Dragons crank up the offense in sweep of Storm

Tiffin University (21-9, 11-1 G-MAC) pounded out 22 hits in 12 innings, sweeping Lake Erie 10-0 and 11-2 in a pair of 6-inning games.

The Dragons broke up a scoreless game in the fourth inning of game one. Singles by Tori McPherson and Jessica Miller set up Tara Gall, who singled to drive in two runs. After pinch runner Marina Koenig stole second, Molly Koesters singled to make it 3-0. 

Tiffin blew the game open in the fifth with 7 runs. Singles by McPherson and Miller were followed by another big hit from Gall as she blasted a home run to left field for 3 RBIs. Walks to Koesters and Jadyn Bassi were followed by a single by Gwen McMenemy to load the bases. McKenna Scott then singled to drive in a run. A walk to McPherson brought in another run, and Miller then singled for two more runs to cap the Dragons' scoring.

Ella Esterby got the mound win with another strong outing, allowing just 2 hits over 5 innings with 6 strikeouts.

In game two, Lexi Key got the win, giving up 3 hits over 6 innings with 7 strikeouts.

The Dragons again scored runs in bunches, with 5 runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings.

TU got its first run in the third. Scott singled and then moved around to third on a sacrifice and a groundout. Gall then added another RBI to her day with a single.

A single by McMenemy and an error on a McPherson grounder to third was followed by a home run by Miller for three runs. A Gall single resulted in another run when Koesters drilled a double to center field. Pinch runner Caylin Stevens then scored on a sac fly by pinch hitter Lexi Key.

In the sixth, Macy Brazelton doubled and McMenemy walked. A walk to Scott loaded the bases while pinch runner Mackenzie Dietrick scored on a wild pitch. After McPherson walked to load the bases, Miller singled for an RBI. Gall then walked for another run, and Koesters finished the scoring with a two-run double.
