The Tiffin University women's lacrosse team (10-6) dominated Thomas More on Saturday at the Paradiso Athletic Complex in the G-MAC Tournament Quarterfinals, defeating the Saints 24-9.
The 24 goals scored by the Dragons were a season high.
Tiffin never trailed and scored 26 seconds into the game when Isabelle Vranjes converted off a pass from Lauren Walsh. The Dragons would then add six consecutive goals in the first quarter to take a commanding 8-1 lead.
With 8:45 remaining in the first half, Vranjes added another goal to make it a 10-goal lead to prompt the running clock, and the remainder of the game would be played with a running clock. TU scored eight in the first and nine in the second to take a 17-3 lead into halftime.
The offense slowed down a bit in the second half, but the Dragons won the second half as well by outscoring the Saints 7-6.
Vranjes led the way offensively scoring six goals. Walsh and Dana Shehadeh each scored four. Lillian Graham scored three while the trio of Kenna Wigginton, Aryanna Rykard, and Katelyn Jarvis each scored two. Ashley Spangler scored one goal.
Walsh tallied a career-high seven assists and finished with a career-high 11 points to reach the 100 career points mark. Shehadeh recorded four assists and Guinevere Salas tallied three assists.
Paige Waldrup got the win in goal, recording four saves over 60 minutes.
Wigginton scooped up eight draw controls and five ground balls and had two caused turnovers. Brookelynne Brewer and Sarah Grover also recorded two caused turnovers each.
The Dragons held a 35-19 shot advantage, won the ground ball battle 24-14, and committed two fewer turnovers than the Saints while dominating the draw controls winning 22 of 32.
