Tiffin University (31-11, 19-3 G-MAC) moved one step closer to winning the G-MAC regular season championship with a sweep of Walsh.
Tiffin, which won 7-1 and 9-3, needs just one victory to secure the title. They take on Findlay in their regular season finale April 26 at 1 pm.
Ella Esterby got the win in game one, allowing just 2 hits over 7 innings with 7 strikeouts and one earned run.
Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, Tiffin took the lead in the bottom of the frame.
Molly Koesters and
Lydia Kobie singled. An error at first base allowed one run to score, and Kobie scored after stealing third base and coming home on a throwing error by the pitcher.
In the fourth, Esterby doubled and came home on
Reagan Mengerink's double. Walks to Kobie and
Jadyn Bassi loaded the bases, and two runs scored on a double by
Tori McPherson.
Jessica Miller then singled to drive in another run.
Tiffin got one more run in the fifth. TU opened with a walk to Esterby and a single by Mengerink.
Macy Brazelton then got a pinch hit single to drive in a run.
In game two,
Lexi Key improved to 16-4 with 7 innings of work. She allowed 3 hits and 3 earned runs with 8 strikeouts.
Tiffin got a run in the first inning. With two outs, Miller singled and then scored on Brazelton's double to make it 1-0.
Trailing 3-1 in the second, Tiffin got one run back. Walks to Koesters and Mengerink led to an RBI single by
McKenna Scott to make it 3-2.
The game fell apart for Walsh in the fifth inning when Tiffin rallied for 7 runs. A single by Brazelton and a walk to
Tara Gall was followed by an RBI double by Koesters. Mengerink then had a sacrifice fly for another run. A walk to
Marina Koenig and a single by
Gwen McMenemy loaded the bases. Scott then singled for 2 RBI. A walk to Kobie loaded the bases again, and Miller cleared the bases with a triple.
