Tiffin University (4-9, 2-7 G-MAC) managed just one goal in the second half at Lake Erie, eventually falling to the Storm 13-6.
Lake Erie took advantage of an 11-5 shot edge in the first quarter and jumped ahead 4-1 after the first 15 minutes.
Aaron Cotter scored Tiffin's lone goal in the first off a pass from
Connor Gucwa.
The Storm pushed their lead to 6-1 before
Cole Mack scored TU's second goal. It was the first of three straight TU goals, as Cotter and
Matthew Nunnaro also scored to pull Tiffin to within 6-4.
After another Storm goal,
Aiden Criteser scored the last goal of the half to put Tiffin behind at halftime 7-5.
The Dragons kept pace with the Storm in shots in the second half, with Lake Erie holding a 23-20 edge including 12-10 on goal, but Lake Erie's goalkeeping posted 9 saves in the half to keep TU off the board. The lone goal for Tiffin in the second half came from
Isaac Wert midway through the third quarter and pulled TU to within 8-6.
Overall Lake Erie held a slim 40-37 shot edge. Tiffin controlled the face offs 16-7 and the ground balls 40-30. Tiffin also had 15 turnovers to Lake Erie's 12.
Cotter led with 2 goals while Wert, Nunnaro, Mack, and Criteser also scored. Gucwa had 2 assists while
Jack Howard also had an assist.Â
Nick Overocker had 9 ground balls while going 15 for 18 on face offs. Howard also had 4 ground balls while
Brady Sortor and
Grant Pryor added 3 apiece.
