Tiffin University (4-3, 2-1 G-MAC) used a strong opening and closing quarter to get separation from Davis & Elkins, winning 18-10 on the road.
The Dragons won the first quarter battle 7-3 with
Aaron Cotter tallying 3 goals and
Jack Howard and
Matthew Nunnaro 2 more apiece in the first 15 minutes.Â
The Dragons led at the half 9-5 after posting a 26-17 shot advantage. The Dragons also controlled the loose balls, registering a 22-11 ground ball lead and a 11-4 margin on faceoffs in the first half.
TU then closed the game in fine fashion, Holding a 9-8 lead with 7:08 left in the third quarter, the Dragons went on a 7-1 run over the next 17:00 to put the game away. Cotter, Howard, and
Cole Mack all scored twice during that stretch.
Overall TU outshot D&E 43-37. They held commanding leads in ground balls 39-20 and faceoffs 22-8.
Nick Overocker had 11 faceoffs won with 6 ground balls while
Phoenix Biggs also won 9 faceoffs with 9 ground balls.Â
Cotter finished with 6 goals and an assist with 2 ground balls while Howard had 4 goals. Mack and Nunnaro each scored twice while
Connor Gucwa,
Noah Cruz,

Trevyn Carter also scored. Cruz added 3 assists while Gucwa led the team with 5 dishes.
Adam Goucher got the win in goal, making 12 saves over 41 minutes while
Tyler Nutting (4 saves, 17 minutes) and
Aaron DiGiorgio (2 minutes) also played in goal.
