Dragons beat Quincy for first win of 2026

Tiffin University (1-3) picked up its first win of 2026, defeating Quincy 7-2 before falling to Trevecca Nazarene 6-2.

TU got a complete game effort from Lexi Key, who allowed just 3 hits with 9 strikeouts over 7 innings for her first win of the year.

The Dragons did all their damage in the first two innings. In the first, Tiffin loaded the bases on walks by Reagan Mengerink and Jessica Miller and a single by Tori McPherson. A walk by McKenna Scott brought in one run, and a sac fly from Jadyn Bassi made it 2-0, Dragons.

TU tallied five more runs in the second inning. Gwen McMenemy singled and went to second on a wild pitch. She scored on Mengerink's double. After Miller was hit by a pitch, McPherson singled and two runs scored on an error by the left fielder. McPherson scored on a wild pitch and, following three straight walks to Macy Brazelton, Bassi, and Ryan Wallace, another wild pitch allowed Brazelton to score.

In game two, Ella Esterby took the loss, allowing 12 hits to the Trojans along with 3 earned runs.

Tiffin managed just two runs in the fourth inning. Trailing 3-0, Tiffin got back in it starting with a Wallace single. With Wallace on second and two outs, Miller walked. McPherson then singled to drive in one run, and Scott stroked another hit up the middle to make it 3-2.

Tiffin tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, as McPherson walked and Scott singled, but three straight strikeouts ended the game for TU.
