Tiffin University (9-12, 4-10 G-MAC) could not hold a late lead and missed a game-tying shot at the buzzer in overtime, falling at Hillsdale 76-73.
A layup by
Serenitee Johnson at the 1:27 mark in the fourth quarter gave TU a 63-61 lead but the Chargers responded with a bucket with 12 seconds left to tie it 63-63.
Megan Campbell could not hit a three-point attempt as the buzzer sounded as the game went to overtime.
In OT, Hillsdale built a 7-point lead with 39 seconds left when treys by
Peyton Magee and
Isabelle Niederst brought TU to within 3 points with 15 seconds left. A final three-point attempt by
Hailey Unger at the buzzer did not fall as the Chargers got the win.
Rough shooting in the first quarter put TU in an early hole but the Dragons turned it around in the second quarter, shooting 53 percent to outscore the Chargers 24-18 and take a 34-32 lead into the halftime break.
Tiffin held a 16-9 edge at the free throw line while the Chargers controlled the rebounding 50-36. Hillsdale also outscored TU in the paint 36-28 while taking advantage of Tiffin's 20 turnovers to post a 24-19 advantage in points off turnovers.
Niederst led the Dragons with 19 points while Unger had 13 points with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
Garyana Overton also had 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Magee also had 9 points off the bench.
