PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Tiffin University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 road decision to Lake Erie College on Friday evening at the Jerome T. Osborne Center. The Dragons took the opening set before the Storm rallied to claim the next three, winning by scores of 17-25, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-21.
Tiffin came out firing in the first set, posting a match-best .545 hitting percentage while recording 18 kills to cruise to an eight-point victory. The Dragons built a 16-10 advantage midway through the frame and never looked back as they collected six kills from
Symari Scott and
Katelyn Owens combined to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Storm responded in the second set, hitting .314 while limiting the Dragons to a .028 attacking percentage to even the match. Lake Erie carried that momentum into the third set, overcoming a late Tiffin surge to secure a 25-22 win before closing out the match with a 25-21 fourth-set victory.
Symari Scott paced the Dragons offensively with a team-high 16 kills while adding two blocks.
Parker Vackert added nine kills while
Katelyn Owens contributed eight kills.
Brookelyn Schmidt was efficient in limited opportunities, registering six kills on a .500 hitting percentage.
Maggie Pavlansky and
Kat Akolzin each finished with 21 assists, while
Morgan Morley anchored the defense with a match-high 26 digs. Morley and
Amber Czerniak finished with two service aces each.
The Dragons (2-14, 2-5 G-MAC) will look to rebound on Saturday at Ursuline College at 2 p.m. for another conference matchup.
