Dragons Post Dramatic 2-1 Victory Over Lake Erie

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University women's soccer team posted a come from behind win over Lake Erie on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Storm 2-1 at the Paradiso Athletic Complex after scoring twice in the final 9:23.

Running out of time, the Dragons (4-6-2, 2-5-1 G-MAC) cranked up the offensive pressure late. A turnover by Lake Erie deep in Tiffin territory led to the game-tying goal by Callie Chevrette in the 81st minute. Chevrette gained possession of the ball a good 15 feet outside the box and rifled a shot into the upper right corner of the net past the outstretched arm of Lake Erie's goalkeeper. It was the first goal of Chevrette's career.

Riding that momentum, the Dragons capitalized on a corner kick to win the game with 1:25 remaining. Maddie Davis sent the ball into the box, and Taylor Iden finished it off for the game-winner into the lower right part of the goal to stun the Storm (2-6-3, 1-5-1).

Lake Erie opened the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute off a corner kick and that marked the only shot on goal for the Storm in the game.

Sam McPhee and Gianna Parmentier each played 45 minutes in goal and neither made a save. Parmentier earned the win after playing the second half. Mackenzie Borden paced the offense with four shots.

Tiffin outshot Lake Erie 17-8 and held a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal. TU also earned five corner kicks to Lake Erie's two. The Dragons held the Storm to just two second-half shot attempts while recording 12 to spark the comeback.

Today's victory also marked the fourth win of the season for the Dragons, the most victories they've recorded in a season since posting eight wins in 2022.

Next up for the Dragons will be a trip to Kentucky to take on Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. (5:00 central).
