INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Three Tiffin University student athletes have been named Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athletes of the Week.
Jacob Tueimeh was named the G-MAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week. Tueimeh anchored a dominant defensive effort that propelled Tiffin to a key 21-14 victory over Hillsdale. On the Chargers' opening possession, Tueimeh made an immediate impact, stepping in front of a pass and returning the interception 52 yards for a touchdown just 2:02 into the game to give the Dragons an early 7-0 lead. He also contributed seven total tackles, including six solo stops and a tackle for loss, helping Tiffin hold Hillsdale to 14 points and secure the road conference win. This marks the second time in Tueimeh's career he's earned Athlete of the Week honors.
Katelyn Owens was named the G-MAC Volleyball North Division Athlete of the Week. Owens led Tiffin to a perfect 2-0 week, totaling 27 kills, five digs, and four total blocks while hitting .581 across victories over Walsh and Malone. Against Walsh, Owens posted a match-high 14 kills in a five-set comeback victory, including her 500th career kill. She would follow it up with no attack errors and 13 more kills in the sweep over Malone. Owens averaged 3.38 kills per set and was the driving force behind Tiffin's offense throughout the week. This marks the second time this season that Owens has been tabbed Athlete of the Week.
Andre Robison was named the G-MAC Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week. Robison made the most of his 26 minutes of action in a 1-0 win over Cedarville, scoring the game-winning goal with 10 seconds left in the game to stun, at the time, conference-leading Cedarville. It's the latest game-winner by a player in the G-MAC this season to date. This marks the first career Athlete of the Week honor for Robison.
