FINDLAY, Ohio – Garbhan Feeney converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to cap off a 2-1 Tiffin victory in come from behind fashion on Saturday afternoon against Findlay at DeHaven Field.
After the Oilers started fast and scored in the 3rd minute for a 1-0 lead, the Dragons settled in and found the equalizer before halftime. Tiffin (9-2-6, 8-1-4 G-MAC) tied the game in the 40th minute on an insane throw in by Bailey Winchurch that went right through the hands of the Findlay goalkeeper and into the net to give the Dragons some momentum headed into the break.
The game remained tied deep into the second half and the Dragons broke through in the 82nd minute as Garbhan Feeney drew a foul inside the box and converted the ensuing penalty kick to put Tiffin on top 2-1.
Defensively, the Dragons' defense limited Findlay (10-4-2, 7-4-2) to just three shots in the second half and TU goalkeeper Nick Cherry made two saves late to seal the victory.
Cherry went the distance in goal and recorded four total saves while Callum Ellington and Feeney tallied four shots each offensively.
Tiffin outshot Findlay by a wide margin, 20-9, and held a slim advantage of 8-5 in shots on goal. Tiffin also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Tiffin closes the regular season at Lake Erie on Tuesday night, October 27, at 7 p.m. A Tiffin victory would give the Dragons the opportunity to clinch at least a share of the G-MAC Regular Season title.
