TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University men's soccer team (8-2-6, 7-1-4 G-MAC) posted a dramatic 1-0 victory over conference-leading Cedarville (9-7-1, 9-4-0) on Thursday afternoon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex.
Andre Robison played hero by scoring the game-winning goal with 10 seconds remaining in the contest. Robison's initial shot was saved by Cedarville's goalkeeper, but the ball had weird spin and spun backward into the net once it hit the ground. Sam Brittain was credited with the assist on the play, as after he controlled possession he dished it over to Robison who then converted.
A defensive battle the whole way, scoring opportunities were limited on both sides. Garbhan Feeney had a shot ricochet off the crossbar twice, once in the first half and once in the second half, and Bailey Winchurch had a second-half scoring opportunity on a free kick that was saved by the Yellow Jackets' goalkeeper where Toby Edwards made a nice leaping save. Cedarville's best scoring chance came in the first half in the 22nd minute on an attempt that missed just wide left of the net.
Tiffin held advantages in shots (18-6), shots on goal (9-2), and corner kicks (6-3).
Nick Cherry went the distance in goal and recorded two saves, with both coming in the second half.
The Dragons travel to Findlay on Saturday, October 24 for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Oilers at DeHaven Field in another critical conference battle.
