INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Men's soccer goalkeeper Nick Cherry and women's soccer goalkeeper Sam McPhee have been named the G-MAC Men's and Women's Soccer Defensive Athletes of the Week.
Cherry, a redshirt sophomore, led the Dragons to a 1-0-1 week. Cherry saved five of six shots, including a diving save across his body in the 89th minute that helped secure a shutout of Thomas More. This is the second time Cherry has been named the G-MAC Athlete of the Week this season.
McPhee, a senior, tallied five saves against Thomas More on Saturday in a game that ended 0-0. McPhee became just the third goalie this season to hold the Saints' high-powered offense scoreless.
Both soccer teams play their final home game of the regular season this Thursday, October 22 at the Paradiso Athletic Complex. The women host Ursuline at noon while the men host Cedarville at 2:30 p.m. for Senior Day.
