Women’s Soccer Drops Road Game at Northwood, 2-0

MIDLAND, Mich. - On a rainy Thursday afternoon in central Michigan, the Dragons battled the Timberwolves for the second consecutive game but it was Northwood who came out on top in this one, 2-0

The Dragons (3-6-2, 1-5-1 G-MAC) nearly found two goals in the first half but entered halftime down 1-0. Daphine Nalubowa was denied as Northwood's goalkeeper made a diving save in the 29th minute, and shortly after the Timberwolves took the lead, Tia Nagle had a good look that just missed left in the 35th minute less than two minutes after Northwood scored.

The Timberwolves (5-5-1, 4-2-1 G-MAC) struck first in the 33rd minute by Ella Boyd, who capitalized on a loose ball in the box and struck the ball past her teammate and two Tiffin defenders.

Both teams generated more scoring opportunities in the second half. TU had their best scoring chance in the 66th minute, but Callie Cacchione's equalizing attempt ricocheted off the crossbar. Northwood added a second goal on a free kick in the 79th minute.

Tiffin, despite firing off 16 shot attempts in the contest, was held scoreless.

Sam McPhee got the starting nod at goalkeeper in this one and went the distance, recording four saves.

Northwood held a big advantage in corner kicks, 9-2, while edging the Dragons in both shot attempts (19-16) and shots on goal (6-5). Amanda Feury led the Dragons' offensive effort with five shots.

The Dragons return home for their next game on Saturday, October 3 against Lake Erie at noon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex.
