Tiffin University (9-11, 4-9 G-MAC) fell just short in posting a big conference upset, as Thomas More hit free throws with 5 seconds remaining to eke out a 65-63 victory.
After the Saints built a 37-30 halftime lead, the Dragons came back strong in the third quarter. TU outscored Thomas More 22-8 in the period, outshooting them by 20 percentage points and building a 9-point lead early in the fourth quarter.
The Saints responded with a 9-0 run to tie the score 54-54 with 5:42 to play. The two teams traded buckets the rest of the way, with TU taking a 63-61 lead with 1:46 to play. The Saints scored the final four points to secure the win.
The free throw line also showed a huge edge for Thomas More as they held a massive 31-10 margin over TU. The Saints also controlled the rebounds 45-31.
Isabelle Niederst led the Dragons with 14 points and 9 rebounds while
Myka Richardson added 12 points off the bench.
Peyton Magee added 11 points,
Hailey Unger had 10 points, and
Megan Campbell had 5 points with 7 rebounds.Â
