Tiffin University (6-6, 1-4 G-MAC) held a fourth-quarter lead but could not maintain it, falling at Lake Erie 65-62.
The game had a wild start as the Storm erupted for an 11-0 lead only to have the Dragons respond with a 10-point run of their own to bring the score to 11-10. Lake Erie won the opening quarter 14-10.
After a 5:00 scoring drought by both teams in the middle of the second quarter, the Storm again built a 7-point lead with 1:15 to go in the half. The Dragons again responded with a 6-point run to close the half and trail 25-24 at halftime.
Trailing 31-24 early in the third quarter, TU went on a 12-1 burst that gave it a 36-32 lead with 2:12 left in the quarter.
The Dragons led by two heading into the final quarter and pushed their lead to six points with 7:35 to play. Lake Erie bounced back on a 13-6 run to take a one-point lead with 2:04 left. Lake Erie went 6-for-6 from the line over the final 24 seconds to secure the win. Tiffin did get a steal with 8 seconds remaining and trailing by one point but a subsequent turnover took away a last-second shot attempt by the Dragons.
Poor shooting hurt the Dragons throughout the game. TU shot just 35 percent from the floor while Lake Erie shot 50 percent. The Storm also won despite 24 turnovers, while TU was outrebounded 31-25.
Megan Campbell led the team with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while
Hailey Unger had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Serenitee Johnson had 10 points while
Isabelle Niederst also had 8 points.
Myka Richardson added 6 rebounds.Â
