Tiffin University men's basketball (5-13, 1-10 G-MAC) only trailed by three at halftime, but Thomas More exploded for 60 points in the second half to claim an 83-54 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The game was close to start and featured multiple lead changes in the first eight minutes. Back-to-back layups by Ethan Damerum and D'monyae Davis made it 11-10 Dragons, and the Saints converted two free throws on their next possession to retake the lead. The Dragons would play from behind for the rest of the game.
Trailing 23-14 with 3:36 left in the half, TU closed on a 6-0 run to make it a three-point game at the break.
The game was still close at the first media timeout although the Saints had extended their advantage to eight points. At the under 12 media, the Saints led by 14 and continued to add to it as TMU outscored the Dragons 60-34 in the second half. The final score margin of 29 was the largest of the game.
Jonah Nesmith and Davis led the way offensively finishing with 18 points and 11, respectively. Demar Burton finished with eight points and three assists.
The Saints canned nine triples in the second half to pull away.
The Dragons finished just 18 of 48 from the floor (37.5 percent) and 4 of 15 (26.7 percent) from three-point range.
