Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Three-point shooting the difference as Dragons fall 67-59 at Ohio Dominican

The Tiffin University men's basketball team (5-14, 1-11 G-MAC) couldn't quite overcome the three-point disparity on Thursday night, falling 67-59 at Ohio Dominican.

The Panthers were +15 from downtown with eight makes compared to the Dragons' three which proved to be the difference in the game.

The game featured 11 lead changes which all occurred in the first eight minutes of the contest. A jump shot by Demar Burton gave TU a 15-14 lead with 13:15 left in the first half, and then the Panthers responded with a mini 5-0 run to retake the lead and ODU would lead the rest of the game.

ODU sank four three-pointers to extend their lead to 32-23 at the break and overall drained six in the opening half compared to zero by the Dragons. ODU hit a three to make it 32-23 with 2:43 left in the half and that was the halftime score as both teams went scoreless the rest of the way. After Ethan Damerum's layup at the 3:30 mark, the Dragons did not score again until the 18:56 mark of the second half.

The Dragons would not go away quietly, cutting the deficit to three, three times in the second half but could not get any closer. A layup by Burton with just over six minutes left made it a five-point game until the Panthers scored six straight to take a double-digit lead with 3:49 left.

The Dragons got back within five on two Michael Lucarotti free throws with 36 seconds left but ODU made three of four from the charity stripe to seal it.

D'monyae Davis had a big night finishing with 20 points, five steals, two assists, and six rebounds. Burton had 12 points and eight rebounds while Lucarotti chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Dragons shot 22 of 45 from the floor for 48.9 percent but were just 3 of 12 from downtown.

TU also left eight points at the charity stripe finishing 12 of 20 for 60 percent.
