The Tiffin University women's soccer team (1-0-1) picked up their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon defeating Davis & Elkins 1-0 to finish their season-opening two-game road trip.
Just like on Thursday, the TU offense got off to a quick start but couldn't add on. Following a corner kick by the Dragons, the ball got loose outside the box and fell to Mackenzie Borden. Borden let it rip just outside the box, and the shot had enough power to get past D&E's goalkeeper into the upper right corner of the net. The goal came just 87 seconds into the game.
The 1-0 score held throughout as overall it was a defensive-dominate game. There weren't many scoring chances as both teams recorded just three shot attempts in the first half. For the game, the Senators held a slight advantage in shots (7-6) while the Dragons sent three shots on goal compared to D&E's two.
With 49 seconds remaining in the game, Mauriana Dorsch had an opportunity to make it 2-0 Dragons but the shot landed off target.
Sam McPhee played all 90 minutes in goal picking up the win while Suzy Hayes and Tia Nagle each recorded two shots.
