Tiffin University (2-7, 4-5 G-MAC) got off to a slow start at Wheeling, as the Cardinals jumped out early and eventually won 14-5.
Wheeling outshot Tiffin in the first period 13-3 but tallied only 2 goals. Tiffin picked up the pace in the second period but was still outshot 11-7 with the Cardinals outscoring TU 4-1 to hold a 6-1 halftime lead.
Jack Howard scored Tiffin's lone first half goal with 14 seconds remaining in the half. Overall Wheeling held a 24-10 shot edge while forcing 17 TU turnovers.
Overall Tiffin held a 33-26 ground ball advantage and a 16-7 lead in faceoffs but a total of 35 turnovers proved costly as Wheeling scored 8 more second half goals.
Alex Brown scored both of Tiffin's goals to start the second half with the second goal cutting the Wheeling lead to 9-3.
Tiffin could get no closer than 6 goals the rest of the way.
Leyton Roetting scored early in the fourth period off a pass from
Kyle Geller, while
Sam Trujillo also took a Geller pass and scored to finish the scoring with 1:40 left in the game.
Overall Tiffin was outshot 47-25.
