Tiffin University (29-9, 13-1 G-MAC) posted a sweep of Ursuline on Senior Day, winning 5-4 in 9 innings in game one before blasting past the Arrows 12-0 in 5 innings.
Things started well for Tiffin in game one. In the first,
Reagan Mengerink singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. She then scored on senior
Aubrie Harper's double to make it 1-0.
In the third TU got two more runs.
Jessica Miller singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. After moving to third on senior
Maci Head's flyout to right field, she then scored on another wild pitch.
Baylee Mirgon then singled and stole second.
Tori McPherson singled to make it 3-0 Tiffin.
In the fifth Tiffin pushed their lead to 4-0 when Mirgon again singled and stole second with two outs. McPherson laced another single for another RBI.
In the top of the sixth, two Dragons' errors led to 4 unearned runs as Ursuline tied the score 4-4.
Tiffin did not get the win until the bottom of the 9th inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Mirgon came up with a clutch single to win the game in walkoff fashion.
Isabella O'Brien picked up the win with 3 innings of 2-hit ball, fanning 3.
Ella Esterby started the game and wen 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs with 8 strikeouts.
In game two the Dragons smacked 16 hits while holding the Arrows to just one hit as senior
Jasmin Speth got the win with 5 innings of work.
Tiffin scored in every inning. In the first,
Jessica Miller doubled and came around to score on a throwing error by the Arrows on a foul out.
In the second, McPherson tripled and came home on
Molly Koesters single. With the bases loaded and two outs, Miller drew a walk to make it 3-0 Tiffin.
Tiffin blew the game open with 8 runs in the third. Harper and Mirgon opened with singles and came around to score when McPherson doubled. With the bases loaded, Mengerink singled in two more runs. A Miller single plated another run, while Head singled to drive in another run. A Harper ground out led to another RBI. With two outs, senior
Kelly Conley pinchhit and singled to drive in the final run of the inning.
Tiffin got its final run in the fourth.
Ryan Wallace and
Tori Abel both singled, and a Mengerink single drove in Wallace.
