Tiffin University women's lacrosse (4-3) shook off a slow start and put together a strong second half to defeat Edinboro University of Pennsylvania 12-9 on Saturday afternoon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex on Senior Day. Today's game ended non-conference play for the Dragons.
Tiffin had eight different goal scorers in the game.
Prior to the game, Tiffin recognized their three seniors – Hannah Kaplan, Caylin Kunze, and Sydney Dean.
Today's game was also the final game of a six-game homestand.
Katelyn Jarvis scored the opening goal of the game to put Tiffin on top 1-0, but the remaining 13 minutes were controlled by the Fighting Scots and they led 4-2 after one.
The Dragons turned the tables in the second quarter outscoring the Fighting Scots 4-2 and the two teams went into halftime tied at six. Kunze's second goal of the game gave the Dragons a 5-4 lead with 11:26 remaining in the first half. Edinboro responded with two more to take the lead back, but a goal by Kenna Wigginton made it a tie game at halftime.
Wigginton scored again with 9:30 remaining in the third quarter and the Dragons would not trail again. Wigginton's game-tying goal at the end of the first half started a string of four straight goals by the Dragons and Wigginton was responsible for three of them. The other goal was scored by Lillian Graham.
With 12:04 remaining in the game, Edinboro made it a one score game again, but 1:16 later Guinevere Salas and Lauren Walsh connected on a goal to make it 10-8 with 10:48 left in the game.
Paige Waldrup played all 60 minutes in goal and made five saves. Wigginton scored four goals to lead the way offensively and Kunze scored two goals. Tiffin had eight different goal scorers in the game – Wigginton, Kunze, Walsh, Jarvis, Salas, Ella Malinowski, Graham, and Jessa Zaheri.
