Penguins snap Dragons’ winning streak

Tiffin University women's lacrosse (3-3) had their three-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday afternoon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex, losing 25-5 to Dominican University of California.

The Dragons, despite losing the opening draw control, opened the scoring just 45 seconds into the game as Katelyn Jarvis went racing down the field for the goal following a save by Sadie Wermuth. That goal was one of 11 combined in the opening quarter.

The Penguins would then score eight of the final 10 goals in the quarter to take an 8-3 lead. The visitors followed their opening quarter by scoring six of the seven goals in the second to lead 14-4 at halftime. Chelsea Johnson's goal with 3:23 remaining in the first half prompted the running clock for the remainder of the game as the Dragons were not able to get the deficit back under 10.

In the second half, the Dragons were outscored 11-1 and scored their final goal of the game with 1:56 remaining in the third quarter.

Tiffin took advantage of the extra man opportunities as four of the five goals were scored on a numbers advantage.

Jarvis finished with four goals and one assist while Lillian Graham had one goal. Ella Malinowski also had an assist. Jarvis also recorded a team-high seven shot attempts.

Wermuth got the start in goal and took the loss, playing 21:41 minutes allowing 11 goals with four saves. Sarah Hart played the final 38:19 and allowed 14 goals while recording eight saves.
