Tiffin University (1-3, 0-1 G-MAC) travelled to Walsh for its G-MAC opener, falling to the Cavaliers 13-6.
The Dragons and the Cavaliers nearly matched shots in the first period as Walsh outshot TU 13-10 but Walsh tallied 4 goals to Tiffin's 1. Tiffin's
Alex Brown got the opening goal for TU off a pass from
Connor Gucwa that made the score 2-1 at the 2:35 mark.
Tiffin's offense fell off in the second period as Walsh outshot them 12-4. Tiffin got an unassisted goal from
Matthew Nunnaro with 4:02 left in the half that made the score 5-2 but Walsh held a 7-2 lead at halftime.
The tale was much the same in the second half, as Walsh edged Tiffin in shots 24-21 but were outscored 6-4 overall.
Aiden Criteser and
Cole Back both scored in the third period, with Back's goal coming off a pass from Criteser to make the score 8-4. Walsh tallied four unanswered goals though to make the score 12-4 as the third period came to a close.
Overall Walsh outshot Tiffin 49-35 and forced 23 TU turnovers. Walsh grabbed 34 ground balls to Tiffin's 22 and won the faceoffs 17-5.
Criteser and Nunnaro had 2 goals apiece for Tiffin.
Jack Behre had 4 ground balls to lead TU while
