Tiffin University women's lacrosse (0-1) dropped their season opener on Saturday afternoon to the University of Charleston 16-5.
The Dragons were forced to play from behind all game as the Golden Eagles scored the first goal of the game. Kenna Wigginton scored her first collegiate goal shortly after to tie it at one.
With 55 seconds remaining in the opening period, a goal by Lillian Graham made it 3-2 Charleston. Tiffin then struggled in the middle two periods as the Golden Eagles scored 13 unanswered goals to make it 16-2 and the Dragons were held scoreless in both the second and third periods.
Tiffin's final three goals were scored by Caylin Kunze. Lauren Walsh and Ella Malinowski were credited with one assist each.
Sadie Wermuth started in goal, made 11 saves in 46:08 minutes and took the loss. Sarah Hart played 13:52 minutes in goal, allowing one goal and did not record a save.
