Red-hot Malone topples Dragons on Saturday

Tiffin University women's basketball (7-14, 2-11 G-MAC) faced a red-hot Malone team on Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Center, fell behind early, and dropped a 69-46 decision to the Pioneers. The win was Malone's 13th in a row.  

The Pioneers led from start to finish and scored the first 11 points of the game. The Dragons were held scoreless for nearly the first seven minutes before Grace Craig's layup gave the Dragons their first bucket of the game with 3:11 remaining in the opening quarter. Malone led 20-6 after one and took advantage of TU turnovers, scoring nine points off Tiffin's six opening quarter turnovers.  

In the second quarter, Megan Campbell and Lyv Lindeman fueled a 7-0 TU run to make it 30-18 with 3:52 remaining until halftime. The Pioneers closed the half on an 8-0 run to take a 20-point lead into the break as Tiffin was held scoreless for the remainder of the period. 

In the third quarter, Malone extended their lead to 24 and back-to-back buckets by Ellie Gabel cut the deficit to 16, but Malone closed the quarter strong again and led 53-30 going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Dragons were able to play the Pioneers even but Malone maintained their 20-point lead throughout the period and didn't allow Tiffin to make a run. Malone's biggest lead of the game was 25. 

Tiffin was held to under 30 percent from the floor for the third time this season. 

Gabel led the way in scoring with 14 and Lindeman finished with 11. Campbell finished with six points, six rebounds, and five assists. Presley Feltner grabbed 11 rebounds and had two blocks. Bree Allen blocked four shots and as a team, the Dragons had a season-high nine blocks.
