Tiffin University (4-4) got off to a cold start in its game against Wayne State, shooting 20 percent in the opening quarter and eventually falling 78-66.
The Warriors opened with 57 percent field goal shooting and raced out to a 27-9 first quarter advantage.
Trailing 37-19 at the half, the Dragons tried to reverse course in the second half. With Wayne State leading 54-36 early in the fourth quarter, TU went on a 27-16 run over the rest of the final quarter to pull to within 7 points with 1:18 to play.
The Warriors were strong at the line, however, hitting 20 of 32 free throws including 13 of 20 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Overall TU was outrebounded 49-38 and shot just 33 percent from the floor including 7 for 33 from three point.
Megan Campbell led the team with 15 points and 5 assists while
Peyton Magee hit 4 treys en route to 14 points off the bench with 5 rebounds.
Isabelle Niederst had 12 points while
Myka Richardson had another strong game off the bench with 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Serenitee Johnson also had 7 points.
