Tiffin University (4-5, 0-3 G-MAC) hung close with Kentucky Wesleyan on the road but a fourth-quarter surge by the Panthers led to a 77-65 TU loss.
After
Peyton Magee's three-pointer at the 3:30 mark of the fourth quarter, Tiffin trailed just 66-63. The Panthers took advantage of the free throw line, however, going 8 for 8 down the stretch to end up with the 12-point victory.
Overall KWC held a 22-14 edge in the period, outshooting TU 50 percent to 41 percent in the final 10 minutes. They also held a 23-8 edge at the foul line, connecting on 23 of 30 shots.
Tiffin won the opening quarter 19-17 and only trailed at halftime 35-32. Tiffin's strong three-point shooting kept them in the game, as it hit 13 of 30 shots (43 percent). Tiffin was also undone by 23 turnovers leading to 25 Panthers' points.
While Tiffin won the rebounding battle 31-28, the Panthers outscored TU inside 34-16.
Isabelle Niederst led the Dragons with 17 points and 5 rebounds, while
Hailey Unger had 14 points and
Megan Campbell had 13 points with 8 assists. Magee finished with 9 points while
Serenitee Johnson also had 8 points with 5 rebounds.
