A second-quarter offensive explosion paved the way for a strong night offensively for Tiffin University (4-1), as it defeated Slippery Rock 82-53.
Holding a slim 19-18 lead at the start of the second quarter, the Dragons shot 62 percent in the period, going on a 24-4 run to push their lead to 21 points just before halftime. They held a 46-25 lead at the break.
Tiffin kept up its strong shooting in the second half, holding off an early charge by the Rock by shooting 54 percent in the fourth quarter and push their lead even further, reaching a max of 33 points midway through the final quarter.
Tiffin shot 53 percent for the game including a blistering 52 percent from three point. They outrebounded the Rock 40-28 and held a 38-20 scoring margin in the paint.
Megan Campbell had another big game, totaling 19 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. She was 6 for 11 from the floor including 4 for 4 from three point.
Isabelle Niederst and
Hailey Unger both had 13 points and 4 rebounds while
Myka Richardson totaled 10 points off the bench. A total of 11 different TU players scored in the game.
