Tiffin University (6-3, 5-2 G-MAC) had a strong third quarter against Kentucky Wesleyan, scoring 14 points to eventually win 24-12 on Senior Day.
The Dragons got on the board first, scoring at the 3:58 mark when
Tyrese Banks-Dorn exploded through the line for a 27-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0.
Those were the only first-half points for the Dragons, though, with the Panthers responding with an 84-yard drive in the second quarter and scoring on a 10-yard TD pass at the 4:33 mark. KWC missed the extra point, however, as Tiffin took a 7-6 lead into halftime.
After a three-and-out by the Dragons' defense to start the second half, TU got on the board with one play as
Ronald Blackman burst through the line for a 60-yard score that made it 14-6 at the 12:56 mark of the third quarter.
Tiffin got more points on KWC's next possession, as
Kris Artis blocked a punt and NIck Johnson took it into the end zone to make it 21-6.
Tiffin's defense started to assert itself at that point, as the Dragons registered a total of 7 sacks in the game along with two interceptions.Â
Tiffin's final points came early in the fourth quarter when
Ben Rudolph hit a 24-yard field goal to make it 24-6.
Ethan Evers led the defense with 9 tackles and a sack, while
DaVontez Lewis had 5 stops.
Khris Walton totaled 2 sacks in the game, while
Jokell Brown,
Radical Rothermel,
Kevin Hornbeak, and
Anthony Shields also had sacks.
Braylon Gabes had an interception with a 31-yard return, while
Isaiah Funches-Foster also had a pick.
Blackman led the offense with 138 rushing yards on just 10 carries while Banks-Dorn also had 46 yards rushing.Â
