Tiffin Ends Regular Season with 14-6 Victory

The Dragons (23-24, 17-15 G-MAC) ended the regular season on a high note after defeating conference-leading Ashland, 14-6.

Following their victory in game three yesterday, the Dragons picked up right where they left off, opening the game with a five-run top of the first and added three more in the second to take an early 8-1 lead.

Cal Brazier and Griff Cady both singled to bring home a pair of runs while Tommy Thamann singled to add another as well. For the third game in a row, Brazier fired a home run, this time a three-run shot to right-center field in the top of the second.

The Eagles cut the deficit to three runs after plating one run in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth to make it 9-6 Tiffin. However, a five-run top of the eighth for the Dragons put the game to bed. The inning included another three-run homer, this time by Aidan Grabowski followed by an RBI-single from Ty Hatfield.

Tiffin tossed nine pitchers in total with Brandon Swope earning his first win of the season. Thamann led the team with four hits including a double, two runs scored and two RBI's. Hatfield ended 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run while Jack Clancy, Brazier, and Grabowski all recorded multi-hit games as well.

The Dragons will now head into the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship tournament as the No. 7 seed where they will face No. 2 seed Northwood on Wednesday, May 8 at 1:15 p.m. at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
