Dragons Split Doubleheader with Eagles

The Dragons (22-24, 16-15 G-MAC) battled Ashland in a doubleheader and Friday which ended in a split after Tiffin fell just short in game one, 5-4, before bouncing back with a solid 6-0 victory.

TU struck first in game one on an RBI-double by Isaiah Mirabal in the second inning which brought home Jack Clancy for the game's first run. However, the Eagles plated a run in each of the next three innings to take a 3-1 lead. A three-run top of the sixth for the Dragons regained the lead thanks to Cal Brazier's three-run bomb.

Ashland responded in the bottom half of the seventh, walking it off with a pair of runs to take game one.

Both Griff Cady and Clancy finished 2-for-3 while Brazier ended 1-for-3 with a team-high three RBI's.

Johnathan Ray earned the start on the bump in game two and stepped up with a lights out performance. He tossed a complete game shutout and allowed just three hits while tallying four strikeouts along the way.

The Dragons scored a run in the first on an RBI single from Andrew Fairbrother and added another in the third on a solo shot by Logan Swonger. They added three more in the fourth which included another home run for Brazier.

Tommy Thamann and Aidan Grabowski both finished 2-for-3 with a run scored with Thamann adding a pair of RBI's.

The final game of the series and the regular season will begin tomorrow, May 4 at 2 p.m. Tiffin has secured its spot in the G-MAC Championship tournament and will be playing to secure the 7-seed.
