Tiffin University (19-15, 5-5 G-MAC) earned a dramatic split at Ohio Dominican, falling 1-0 in the opener and winning 6-5 in 11 innings in the nightcap.
In the second game, the game was scoreless until the sixth inning when Tiffin got two runs. Errors put
Maddie Woods and
Jules King on base with no outs.
Reagan Mengerink then doubled to left center to drive in both runs.
ODU got a run back in the bottom of the frame, and TU held a 2-1 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. A leadoff home run by the Panthers tied the game and sent it into extra innings.
In the 11th with Woods placed on second base, Mengerink singled to put two on.
Maci Head then singled to drive in one run, and
Molly Koesters then blasted a three-run homer to push TU's lead to 6-2.
In the bottom of the 11th with two runners on and two outs, a single and triple brought three runs home and put the tying run on third. King struck out the final batter to secure the win.
King got the win with a tough performance. She went 11 innings and fanned 13 batters over that time with 7 hits and 4 earned runs.
Mengerink had 3 hits for 2 RBI while Koesters drove in three runs with a home run.
In the opener,
Claire Feldkamp pitched brilliantly, going 6 innings and allowing just 4 hits and one earned run but it wasn't enough, as a solo run in the fourth inning gave ODU all it needed.
The Dragons managed just three hits in the game with
Baylee Mirgon getting two of them. All three hits were singles.
Tiffin had four runners in scoring position over 7 innings but could not get any of them home.
